The beauty of Wicklow

In the mean time I am working on my latest sail boat I thought I should share some pictures that I took on Friday evening, while relaxing down at the beach in Kilcoole.

The beach looking north, it was a beautiful evening and hardly no wind at all.

On the beach looking South, and in the distance is where Wicklow town is, you’ll see a light house at the end of the beach.

The beach is full of small rocks, and I just love all these different colours.Image

the sea was very calm this evening, and enjoyed just sitting there listening to the waves rolling in…extremely relaxing.

Peter and I always have a lot of fun, and here the rocks has gotten some small faces. Wonder what people might think when/if they find those  hehe

This is what I saw when turning around shooting towards the sun, there is a rail track behind that fence.

And here in the distance you see the Wicklow mountains, this grounds in between me and the mountains, is the Murrough WetlandsThe Murrough’ is a 15 km long coastal wetland area, extending south of Greystones as far as Wicklow Town. It is the largest coastal wetland complex on the East coast of Ireland and is a magnificent wildlife haven and an outstanding area of natural heritage.

I took this close up picture of  a flower on the way back to the car, and do you see the bugs in there?

Hope you’ve enjoyed this little ‘tour’ and stay tuned for my newest work, it will be posted soon.

Some work in progress

Image

It’s yet another sail boat, but truth is that the sea has always inspired me. And recently I have worked with movements in my boat pictures, this is a part of a collection of sail boats, now the 3rd. I have always wanted to learn how to sail, but think this is enough for now, I quite enjoy drawing/painting them.

I do have some new projects in the pipe line at the moment, and if you stay tuned you’ll see some cool things coming up soon. I haven’t completely given up the classic/vintage cars. Here is a previous one, Volvo P1800

This is another one where the original has gone to El Paso, TX.

I do love the American cars, and especially the Chevrolet’s. There’s so many different models and shapes, and the details are fantastic.

I have been featured

I have been chosen to be a featured artist at Eclectic Arts. Their gesture towards me made my whole day, as an artist this is the type of recognition that is so important and mean so much.

You can also pay a visit to their website http://eclecticarts.ie/feature.html and have a look at their other featured artists.

Hope you enjoy!

Art is fun

I have had a lot of time at hand this weekend,  and I really needed to get my art going again. Not always easy when you have a ‘normal’ job that you need to take care of first, and that is why my art has been set aside more or less. But feel that that trend might have ended. As an artist I just love the feeling when the pictures take form in my head while I am working on another picture, so I have to keep them coming.

And as I was working on the pictures for the children’s book I am working on, I had this image below popping up in my head. I have used this cat in many ways in the past, when I was painting wooden buttons which I were using to create magnets. But once I get an image in my head, I kind of have to get to action and put it down on paper.

I really like the idea of doing those so called extended pictures. It is really easy. I simply bought a frame with mounting paper, and then used the mounting paper as measure when drawing up the image.

I am showing a few stages of the picture below:

And here is the final product, framed and ready to go to a new home.

This picture is suitable for many areas, if you have a narrow wall at home or in the children’s room.

Some new characters

I have been absent for a little while due to a cold that I am fighting off. But, this bank holiday weekend I thought I should just be at home to take care of my cold, and at the same time working on some new creative work. And funnily enough yesterday while I was sitting by the computer and working on promoting my previous works. I came up with the idea of creating a new character. Have you ever had this type of what I would call the ‘Light Bulb’ moment? Well, yesterday I had one of those moments. A picture emerged into my head and immediately I had to set to work with my pens and brushes.

And I have never finished any illustration so fast before, it was done within an hour. I was thinking what did just happen? And I just loved it, to feel the inspiration flowing that strong…almost like I was on a mission. Anyway, the new illustrations I am going to show today is meant for a little story. The story about Tibby the mouse and his friends. And if I cannot find anyone helping me to write it, I am going to give it a go myself with the writing and the illustrations. And as I am typing this, the next image is emerging and taking form inside my mind. So as an artist…these are the moments we have to act upon and just simply keep them coming 🙂

Hope you enjoy what I am sharing with you today, and perhaps they will bring a little smile to your face.  And if you would like to buy prints of these cute ones, they are available on my webshops:

Redbubble and FineArtAmerica, they will shortly be added to my shop at Zazzle where I sell greeting cards of my illustrations.

Enjoy your day!
